Hero's, villain's & shooting the shit
Here's the place to put all the stuff that doesn't really fit
into any of the other pages. Pics of my hero's and info on stuff that you may not have heard, or want to hear!
What can I say about this guy, a great singer and guitarist, and a really
nice bloke to boot.
Got all stuff he's released over the year's and a couple of new albums due out soon. One with the "Road Kings" his rockabilly outfit, and the other a country duets album. Looking forward to this too. You'll never be short changed with this guy, plays all night long if the party feel is there, and it generally is if him and his band are playing.
Albums available from RAUCOUS RECORDS
Ronnie Dawson
What can anybody say about Ronnie that's not already been said.
He was one of the nicest guys I have ever met. And one of the most
generous on stage, a real gentleman. I would say that he was probably
one of the easiest of the original 50's rockers to work with because he'd never stopped gigging. He new what we were about, and we knew what he was about.
I only worked with Ronnie twice, and one of those was a rehearsal, but the gig in Brighton that we had together was sheer magic. Dave Crozier still rates it as one of the best nights Brighton's ever had, and I tend to agree with him.
Gretsch Guitars

I have a love hate relationship with my Gretsch.
It has never ever sounded right but it's still the best guitar I've ever played.
All players of the things have to tinker with them! I've not met one person that has one that doesn't have to change something! But they have the perfect sound for Rockabilly. They have a twang that you just can't get on any other guitar. I should know I've probably bought just about every make of left handed guitar known to man over the last 27 years!
Still worth checking out, and the Electromatic range's are a great buy for all you right handed players, no left handers in this range! there's a surprise!!!!
Jimmie Vaughan
Got into Jimmie Vaughan way before his brother was a big name. I was about 17 when I bought the Fabulous Thunderbirds single "tuff enough".
I bought it cause they looked like a rock n roll band, had never heard them. I was hooked after this single, have lost it amongst my other singles but I must dig it out. He was always kinda in the shadow of his brother which for me was very annoying as he is just as good a guitarist, in fact in my view I enjoy his playing more, as he's closer to the original blues players style, and always puts in just the right amount of notes.
Jimmie's now got a very successful solo career going and is looking and playing better than ever. Check him out on Youtube.
Brian Setzer
Another hero of mine. Over the last few years Brian's really given his solo career some wellie. He's gone from strength to strength and is getting better with every release. There are so many people on the scene now that owe a big debt to Brian and the Stray Cats but now try and ignore everything they do in favour of the more authentic sound. I don't understand this way of thinking, without the like's of the Stray Cats, Crazy Cavan, The Flying Saucers & Shakin Stevens many of us would not have got into the music in the first place. Or if we did it probably would have been only for a short fashionable time. Check out Brian's website for all the latest info.
