One song off the new album

Ok here's the first preview of a track from the forthcoming album, not fully mixed yet but it gives you an idea of what to expect!!!!!!!!!!!

"Flyin High" With the SUNDOWNERS

MY BABYS GONE
This is a track that was originally written by our genius drummer Mr "Diamond Dave Diddley daddy" Prince. It's a frantic rocker in the SUN RECORDS vain (I hope). I like to think that I knocked it into shape a bit. We rehearsed this for the first time the night before we went into the studio. Sometimes being spotainious is exactly what you need for Rockabilly!

My baby's gone

A brief story behind each of the songs from the last album for Foot tapping Records.

Cry Cry Cry - A great Johnny Cash tune, one of the first tracks recorded by the newly reformed Sundowners on demo in 2003. And a staple of the live set.

Jitterbop baby - Started doing this live but wasn't sure about recording it as the original is so good. Got some air play at the Rhythm riot I understand which is  my justification for ruining a brilliant song!

Suddenly - Written by my good friend Paul Sheahan and myself. Paul had the words and the idea of being a bit gospel. I think this has come out brilliantly and is one of my favs on the album. Chin chin Paul!!

Suddenly

If your gonna say goodbye to me - Another Sheahan/Gocher original, well sort of, again Paul had the words and I was tinkering with it and came up with the Johnny Horton style thing. This song has been kicking around for a good few years with at least 2 re writes. A great version was recorded by the Glendale Bros at Boz Borrers studio in Kilburn, If  I  can find it that'll be on here to.

Wings of an angel - Having been told that I have a voice that suits the Sonny Burgess song book I have always tried to fit in at least one into our live set. I have been lucky enough to play with Sonny on a couple of occasions, and had a great time at both. This is normally one of the encore number if we get one with the Sunowners.

Sea of Heartbreak - I remember hearing this track for the first time at home when I was about 10 or 11. It was on an old country compilation that my Mum and Dad had. I loved the way that the song sounded with the minor chord. As I got more into the music in latter years I searched out a 20 greatest of Don Gibson, and I've never looked back, I love his song writing and Chet Atkins is playing guitar and producing, what more do you need.

The will of love - This track has been a part of the Sunowners
set since we started out in 1988. It was always one of Andy's favourite numbers to play as he said that Tooter Boatman was one of the very few original Rockin singers to have Tattoo's in the 50's. So there you go, we kinda changed it from the original, but I just seem to love that Texas rockabilly.

Outlaws Ride - Another from the pen of Sheehan/Gocher.
Paul and I are mad Marty Robbins fans, and as you can hear this is a tribute to that great man. We've tried to capture that feel in this track and I think a big hand to Darrel for getting us there.

Lonely Boy - I remember playing this to Darrel  one day whilst we were at an Elvis weekender back in the  late 90's. We  jammed it for a while and stopped for a fag break, and Darrel asked what we'd been playing, I said that it was a song idea that I had, and he thought it sounded a bit like a Roy Orbison ~ Sun Records track. So when I was recording the album  I remembered that track and re wrote it in the studio as I couldn't remember any of the words. I still can't! It goes to show, some songs can hang around for years!

Rebound - Another track that had been recorded as a demo, and one that we were doing live at the time. I've always wanted to play piano and I seem to gravitate to songs with piano in them. Not much use when your a 3 piece band! A great original by Charlie Rich, a very underrated Sun artist, and a Country/Crossover superstar.

My One Desire - First heard this song like a lot of people on the Stray Cats first album. It was only later that  I found out it was recorded by Ricky Nelson, and written by the brilliant Dorsey Burnette. A great song that we often start our set with.

End of the road - What can I say, another piano song. This is one of my favourite Jerry Lee numbers. A great track and Darrel's fav on the album.
This one is always in our set, as it gives everybody a little bit of the limelight during the stops.
